GUIDE TO SKINCARE

Overwhelmed by the beauty aisle at drugstore? Looking for a simple, easy to follow skin care regimen that fits your hectic schedule? Knowing what products work together, how they benefit your skin, and the order in which to use them is incredibly important when you are selecting the products.

First thing is to determine the type of skin you have. I have discussed about it in the earlier post.

You might have been told these basic skin care tips earlier, but these are most important ones that affects your skin the most. Buying costly products just because they smell good or have an attractive packing is not right because they might not be good for your skin in the long run. They might contain some harmful chemicals. So you need to prevent your skin. Let's start with some basic tips :-

1) DRINK LOTS OF WATER Yes, it is very important. It maintains the elasticity of your skin and removes all the toxins, giving a glow to your skin.

2) PREVENT YOUR SKIN FROM SUN - Use a broad spectrum sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays. Avoid direct sunlight. Use hats and sunglasses.

3) DON'T SMOKE - For the sake of your overall health and appearance. People who smoke have fine lines and dull appearance.

4) KEEP A SIMPLE SKINCARE ROUTINE - Don't indulge in too many products or methods for your skin. It needs to breathe. Using a lot of different ingredients can be irritating and harmful. Sometimes, some ingredients cancel each other's benefit. So you need to stick to a simple routine.

5) SLEEP - Sleep for atleast 8 hours in a day.

6) WORKOUT/YOGA - I am a big fan of yoga, so I would suggest to practice yoga 1 hour daily. It will give oxygen to all parts of your body, giving energy and relaxation to your body, mind, soul and skin. If you love to workout then go for it, because the more you sweat the more glowing skin you have. Sweating is really important.

7) EAT HEALTHY - Yes, this is the most important thing. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. It contributes the most. Stick to high water content vegetables that are easier to digest such as lettuce, carrot etc. Eat atleast three of them daily and enjoy dressing them with a bit of olive oil and lemon juice. Adding seeds and nuts to your diet will improve your condition. This is generally skipped by most of the people. You can eat almonds, sunflower seeds etc and add them in your meals too.

8) SIP SOME TEA - Herbal teas does wonders for your skin. It removes all the toxic from your body. You can drink green tea or lemon ginger tea. It helps you to stay hydrated throughout the day.

9) MOISTURIZE - Staying hydrated and healthy from inside is important but staying healthy and taking care of your skin from outside is equally important. Moisturize daily and if you have dry skin then you need to do this more often. Oil massages are very relaxing and soothing.

10) MANAGE STRESS - Uncontrolled stress can make your skin more sensitive and trigger acne breakouts. The results might be more dramatic than you expect.

DETERMINE YOUR SKIN TYPE

The first and the most important thing is to determine your skin type. Is it oily, dry, combination or normal? It is essentially important because your skin care routine, the products you choose, it all depends on your skin type.

It depends on factors such as content of water, oil and sensitivity.

NORMAL SKIN

  • It is neither too dry nor too oily.
  • Barely visible pores.
  • Radiant complexion.
  • No or few imperfections.
  • Not very sensitive.

DRY SKIN

  • Invisible pores.
  • Rough complexion.
  • Visible lines.
  • Dry patches.

OILY SKIN

  • Enlarged pores.
  • Dull or shiny complexion.
  • Blackheads, pimples or other blemishes.

COMBINATION SKIN

  • Dry or dull in some areas and oily in other.
  • Over dilated pores.
  • Shiny skin.
  • Blackheads.

BIGGEST SHOPPING MISTAKES

1) Don't talk yourself into an outfit that isn't flattering to your frame. There are only two kinds of clothes in this world. Clothes that flatter you and clothes that don't. Avoid the latter, regardless of how popular and trendy they are.

2) It is one thing to go shopping with your girlfriends because that can be very social and enjoyable but keep in mind don't shop with a competitive friend because she will cajole you into buying more possibly unflattering items whether or not you need it.

3) If you are shopping for a cocktail (event) dress remember to bring your shoes. That way if you need to have in-store alterations you will be all set.

4) If you need to power shop remember to bring a list. This can help focus your attention and keep you on task.

5) Nothing good will come from buying uncomfortable shoes regardless of how fabulous they are.

6) Don't buy something you don't need because it is a fantastic sale price. I know we have all done this but it is a waste of money and closet space.

7) Don't buy on impulse. Ask yourself the following questions when deciding if to buy. Do I need this? Does it fit with my lifestyle or wardrobe? When am I going to wear this? If you are still undecided then put it on hold and if you are still thinking about it at the end of the day - BUY IT!

Pick Of The Day

DOROTHY PERKINS SANDAL

This black sandal is my pick of the day. It is available on Jabong for Rs. 2029 whereas, the MRP of the product is Rs. 2899.
I have chosen this because of the colour and the size of the heels. It is a 2.5 inch heel, this means very comfortable if worn. Also black colour goes with any outfit. Since, it is a block heel, you need not worry.
So, it is a must buy for every girl.

It is also available in a Pastel Blue shade. I would also recommend that for the reason that pastel blue shade is a hot colour this season. The cool and calming shade can be matched with various pastel shades. If you are wearing all black, just throw on the pastel blue sandals and you are good to go.

These sandals should not be missed. Hope you loved them.

Until next time,
